Complications with this annoying opportunity

I was looped into the most irritating team to work by the manager after my long vacation and my manager shared some unnecessary inputs, which were irrelevant to the client requirements. I worked hard on collating slides as requested by my manager for the onsite team’s review and all the slides were thrown out due to conflicts in client requirements. Now, the onsite team shared new insights for the opportunity and the most frustrating part of working with this irritating onsite on this opportunity is that there will be no offshore support at any cost. This was completely deal breaker for me, as I would trust offshore counterpart to coordinate and complete the tasks assigned by onsite, and for this time, I would be completely ripped off due to my manager’s support. My manager has a habit of confusing and complicating simple things and would suggest irrelevant ideas for the opportunity and it would be thrown off by the onsite team. One additional complication in the assigned opportunity was that both the onsite team and my manager had ego issues and they would often argue on unnecessary things. Early morning discussions with onsite team and complications

Therefore, after meticulously planning with clear details of the exact roles and responsibilities of each team member for the service request, I sent out the detailed mail to the onsite team for confirmation and I have also sent a recurring meeting invite in the morning for discussions. The next day early in the morning, I woke up early and started the meeting with the hope that the onsite team had spent some time and refined the document I had shared earlier. However, to my disappointment, the onsite team had not even touched the document and was reviewing it only in the meeting and I was getting furious about their attitude. Post review comments, I made a point to the onsite team that it would be really helpful if the onsite team had spent some time before the morning discussions so that we can have fruitful discussions from both parties. I don’t know these messages would have been received by the onsite team because I conveyed it with all leadership on the call and made minutes of meetings for the same. I just got mild acknowledgment from the onsite team and later on, the leadership team was also requesting the team to word on review comments shared by the client. To know, how the onsite team responded on the next day, please feel free to check out the posts listed in “G R Team Sites”

Avoided escalation mail and huge embarrassment

After having long discussions with my old delivery point of contact, I understood that it may take very little bandwidth from my day and I can manage things for the next few days. Now, I want to convey this to my manager and get his approval as well and there are two complications associated with it. One I can go ahead and work directly on old service request without even getting the nod from my manager since I have entire knowledge about the project and no one else can fill my shoes in short span of time. Second, even if I support my old service request without m my manager’s approval, it would backfire me as he was involved in the mail trail and in future may raise concern that why it was not brought to his notice. So, to avoid all nuisances and escalation mails, I started to walk towards my manager cabin and was detailed about the new super request from my previous work. I just got away from escalation by just having a conversation with my manager, because he conveyed to me that he was about to send rejection mail to my old delivery team that I am held up with new work and I cannot be supporting closer service request after 2 weeks. Thankfully, I stopped my manger from dropping that mail to all Team members and started to explain the need and amount of effort required from my end. Oscillation about the nature of work

So, I had to work with same onsite team with whom I had worked earlier and the same offshore delivery lead with whom I had issues about his nature of the work. I had ownership of setting up call between both onsite and offshore team, and the call started with all required introduction about the team and service request details. After completion of call, gathering all required information for my work, I was bit relieved as I had most of the standard slides with me and only few slides had to be recreated with the information shared. Now, I had oscillation about the nature of the work, whether it would be simple or would it get complicated each day with new requirement shared by client and onsite team. Till next day’s call, all I had to do was gather some slides from the repository and keep empty slides for the onsite team to fill in. However, as usual whatever expectation I had was changed in upcoming calls, to know more check out “G R Team sites”
